Reformer Weekend with Jay Grimes at Vintage Pilates

Reformer Weekend - Super fun start to the WWJ series. I have been working to prepare for this workshop for almost a year and I’m glad I did. This was a real old-school workout for 3 days non-stop to get the work into your body. I’m glad I had a chance to complete Kathi’s PPATT program a couple of year ago, as it helped me tremendously to prepare for the this work.

Here are some of the cool things to remember about reformer:

  1. Order

  2. Holding the bar and handles

  3. What do reformer noises tell you

  4. How to connected to your center on foot work - try 1 spring

  5. How to get into the hundred from lying flat - try the wall to prep you

  6. Long stretches are all about backbody

  7. Long back stretch and semi-circle - how to connect - the connetion is surprisingly similar

  8. Stomach massage rhythm

  9. how about that tendon stretch - know where you are going and get there

  10. Short box - why is it so important?

  11. backstroke rythm

  12. breaststroke - where doe the arms/hands go? how do you work from your back?

  13. Breathing with straps - how to prepare and confidently execute on the reformer

  14. Snake and twist - don’t forget about the standing leg - that’s your foundation

  15. Balance control off - how do you get back on that reformer?!

  16. side splits -move from your back
